Position / Title: Sales Representative

General Role and Responsibilities of CWD Sales Representative

  • Work independently to make regular account calls on approved customer list, preplanning and completing both sales and account maintenance functions as directed, providing superior customer service and building strong buyer relationships.
  • Create and deliver sales presentations, incorporating supplier/brand heritage, brand features and benefits, competitive pricing scenarios including quantity discounting, empirical sales data, and a convincing quality proposition.
  • Achieve monthly sales goals including brand focus volume goals, new distribution initiatives and territory revenue.
  • Establish and grow viable levels of distribution across all commodities in the Click Wholesale Distributing portfolio.
  • Cultivate new distribution and increase rate of sale by proper use of merchandising techniques, develop features and promotions to support brands at retail, sell in menu and chalkboard features, and build backbar displays, floor displays and gain cold box placements. Book regular staff trainings to impart product knowledge at point of purchase. Insure proper rotation and maintain all CWD items in saleable condition meeting company quality standards.
  • Participate in company and supplier funded incentive programs.
  • Proactively open new accounts as directed, insuring beer, wine and spirits commodities are represented.

Required Skill and Ability

  • Participate in continuing education opportunities, building working knowledge of all wine, beer and spirits products.
  • Maintain knowledge of market conditions, all competitors and brands, reporting on competitive activity and regularly providing CWD management with SWOT analysis of territory.
  • Possess the ability to work in a team environment, delivering individual goals while providing for the best interest of the team. Using company resources efficiently and effectively. Interacting and communicating with team members, customers and suppliers in a professional and respectful manner, imparting enthusiasm and positive reinforcement of supplier and company objectives.
  • Maintain a high level of organization and time management, accurately complete daily preplans, monthly expense reports, other surveys and administrative tasks as required. Be proficient with both email and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) as well as internal company technology.
  • Be adaptive to change and possess advanced problem-solving skills, approaching challenges with a can-do attitude.
  • Maintain a professional personal appearance, including business casual dress, hygiene and grooming.
  • Comprehend and always operate under State laws, rules and regulations that pertain to alcohol sales.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent is preferred / High School Diploma required
  • Advanced knowledge and high level of passion for wine, beer and spirits industry across both channels of business.
  • Completed the level “1” Sommelier Certification, WSET, CSS, CSW, Cicerone Certification or equivalent
  • Position Requirements
    • Lift and carry a 55+ pound case of product on a repetitive basis as well as other merchandising activity as necessary.
    • Maintain a reliable cellular phone with internet data capabilities for access to Encompass and company email
    • Possess a dependable vehicle, valid driver’s license, proof of state registration and insurance, and an acceptable driving record.

Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Sales, the District Manager will oversee multiple direct reports responsible for key on and off-premise business channels and all commodities.  The candidate will have exceptional leadership abilities, superior organizational skills, advanced communication skills, extensive knowledge of wine, beer and spirits and a proven record of motivating sales teams to achieve their assigned goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute CWD long-term sales and marketing strategic vision within assigned territories for all commodities
  • Maintain sales team budget for revenue and expenses, ensuring that the team has all tools necessary to achieve assigned goals
  • Train, coach, and motivate direct reports to deliver expected results on sales and distribution KPIs in the market. Conduct formal, and informal, training and development of sales representatives through regularly scheduled in-field work, preplanned supplier trade activity, market surveys, continuing education modules and regular team meetings
  • Develop monthly, quarterly and annual business plan by sales territory, down to account level detail, to execute brand and consumer strategy and to deliver business metrics, including incentive performance, brand focus goal and revenue attainment
  • Take ownership of relationship building activities with buyers for all strategic accounts
  • Maintain knowledge of market conditions, including all competitors and brands. Report monthly on competitive activity, programs, pricing and structure as it impacts market dynamics and competitive route to market
  • Insure all marketing and sales trade activity meet both Click and supplier brand standards, as well as national and state regulations

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years proven sales and sales management experience in beverage distribution or wholesaler-supplier leadership position is required
  • College degree or equivalent is preferred / High School Diploma required
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills allowing the candidate to fluidly manage up and down the organizational chart and through a diverse cross-section of customers types
  • Full understanding of how to teach a professional approach to the selling process including business math, negotiation skills, selling for value and overcoming objections
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a number of different priorities on a 24 hour timeframe
  • Highly developed technical skills – proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) and CWD Encompass reporting tool
  • Lift and carry a 55+ pound case of product on a repetitive basis.
  • Possess a dependable vehicle, valid driver’s license, proof of state registration and insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
  • Work flexible hours, evening and weekends. Available for overnight travel.

The ideal candidate for the Sales Representative position must have the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required
